Concentration, imagination, embodiment: in these three words the actor and director Michael Chekhov summed up his path to inspiration. The Michael Tschechow Studio Berlin (MTSB) has made this method the basis of its acting training since 1984, as one of the most distinguished houses for it in the German-speaking world.
Alongside the classical content of an acting training, the schooling of inspiration is central, which for Chekhov was the basis of all artistic work. Graduates of the studio are known for imagination, independence and the ability to work in an ensemble, and they work on stage, in front of the camera and in teaching. Many describe their time at the MTSB as a school for life: you learn here not only how to portray people on stage, but also how to shape your own life with artistic means.
The studio has been part of the Forum since the eighties, run by Forum Kreuzberg e.V., with rooms at Eisenbahnstraße 21 and Köpenicker Straße 173 and 174. The connection reaches far beyond Berlin, as far as international Chekhov conferences with guests from all over the world.
