theaterforum kreuzberg

Theatre in the former ballroom of the Köpenicker Hof: own productions, guest performances and classical modernism.

Zwei überlebensgroße Masken im Bühnenlicht, dahinter zwei Spieler.

Where theatre is played today, people danced more than a hundred years ago: the theaterforum kreuzberg (tfk) resides in the former ballroom of the „Köpenicker Hof“ at Eisenbahnstraße 21. The beginnings of theatre at the Forum go back to 1982; since 2005 the association theaterforum kreuzberg e.V. has carried the operation.

Under the artistic direction of Anemone Poland the tfk has specialised in authors of classical modernism, often as German or Berlin premieres. With this choice of largely unknown plays the house has won itself a much-noticed niche in the Berlin theatre landscape. Alongside its own productions, theatre and dance ensembles from Berlin, Germany and abroad appear as guests.

For the Forum the theatre is more than a tenant. It is the cultural centre of the house, a stage for the community’s festivals and events, and one of the places where the Forum becomes visible to the city.
