The Naturkindergarten is the youngest children’s project at the Forum, founded by two couples as a charitable company with the Förderverein as a co-partner. Behind it is the conviction that a good and responsible life only works in the long run in contact with nature, and that children should grow up close to nature even in a big city.
Fifteen children between the age of two and starting school are looked after by a team of three educators, one trainee and one person on a voluntary year. The rooms are at the Forum in Köpenicker Straße 175, and there is a large garden right by the Plänterwald. On garden days, two to four times a week depending on the season, the children spend their mornings there.

A slow place with a firm rhythm
The kindergarten describes itself as a slow and quiet place. A firm daily and weekly rhythm gives security: eurythmy on Thursdays, seasonal festivals, songs and stories through the year, and work with natural materials. On the last Sunday of the month all families are invited to a picnic and gardening.
Parental commitment is part of the concept: cleaning duties, action days in the garden, repairs. That keeps the families closely connected to the kindergarten and frees the educators for what matters.
