Housing co-operative

Living at the Forum means being a member: 88 co-operative flats, taken off the market, managed together.

Viele Kinder und Erwachsene sitzen und stehen bei einem Fest im Hof beieinander.

Living at Forum Kreuzberg means being a member, not simply a tenant. Everyone who lives here holds shares in the co-operative, has a vote at the general meeting and carries a share of responsibility for the whole. The rent pays for the upkeep and the future of the buildings, not for profit.

The 88 flats are spread across six buildings and range from one-room flats to large family flats, and since 2016 there are step-free ones in the new building as well. Nothing is sold here and nothing is speculated with: the land is held by the non-profit Förderverein under a heritable building right (Erbbaurecht).

Worth knowing: there are currently no vacant flats, and we do not keep an open list of applicants. Flats that become free are allocated by the working group for housing allocation according to the co-operative’s criteria. If you are interested in the model or have questions, please get in touch or join one of our guided tours. Answers to common questions are in the FAQ.

    Co-operative living

Anyone living here is a member, not a tenant. That sounds like a small difference but it is a large one.
