Some workshops at the Forum work for eternity; the paper studio does so literally. Gesine Siedler is a book and paper restorer. She closes tears, fills losses, consolidates layers of paint and restores bindings of board and wood with paper, fabric, leather or parchment.
Her focus is on looking after exhibitions, that is mounting, mounting in passe-partouts and framing. Added to that are the tasks you only see once you know exhibitions from behind, such as conservation advice, condition reports during installation and dismantling, book cradles and courier work.
The studio is in the factory building in the second back courtyard of Köpenicker Straße 175, third floor, between joineries and artists‘ studios. Restoration is a craft, and craft has its place here.
