Facade greening

The facade greening group keeps the Virginia creeper on the buildings in balance, so that it insulates without swallowing anything.

Green facades cool in summer, insulate in winter and house birds and insects. For that to work they need care. The facade greening group keeps the balance between the climbing plants so that no dominant species crowds out the others, and orients the planting mix towards the needs of insects, birds and people.

Twice a year there are cleaning, leaf and cutting sessions, along with climbing aids, bed edging and nesting boxes. Sometimes that calls for very particular skills, from welding the Corten steel planters to expertise in trees, and those are found in the membership too.
