The courtyards are play area, garden and workshop forecourt all at once. The courtyard group makes sure they stay both: good to look at and usable. It wants a courtyard whose planting offers something to insects, birds and people alike.
In practice that means berry bushes, blackberries, raspberries and chokeberries, plus tea herbs such as lemon balm and sage, kitchen herbs and strawberries. A large insect and wild bee hotel is waiting for occupants. The children’s club looks after three raised beds and the area in front of its workshop rooms together with the children, garden education included.
The group meets in the courtyard about twice a year; in between, building projects run on individual weekends: rebuilding the playhouse, building the bin shed, connecting water tanks.
