Commercial space allocation

The commercial space group decides who uses the commercial units, by fit rather than by the highest bid.

36 commercial units on 3,337 square metres form the productive backbone of the Forum. The commercial space group makes sure they stay that way. Its task is to let space in a way that is viable and broadly mixed, agreed with the Förderverein and with an eye on the structures that have grown here, that is the mixture of craft, art, therapy and social projects.

When a space becomes free, the group looks for suitable tenants and runs a structured process of getting to know them. Decisions are taken together, by criteria and by the particulars of the space, not by the highest bid. Added to that are rent calculations with the Förderverein, support for generational handovers in the businesses, and the upkeep of the spaces.

The group’s own description ends with a sentence that is fondly quoted here: „Wir tragen es nicht nur im Namen, nein, wir sind auch produktiv.“ Vacant spaces are listed under Freie Gewerbeflächen.
